Autoresponder Reviews – Which One Should I Choose?

In a previous article I looked at the importance of an email list to grow your business and I briefly talked about using an autoresponder to manage your email marketing. There are many on the market and here I will compare autoresponders and look at three of the more popular ones. I have also used each of these three at one time or another and they all did the job required.

Mail Chimp

Name: Mail Chimp

Website: MailChimp.com
Price: FREE

Overall Rank: 7 out of 10

Mail Chimp is one of the most popular email marketing tools around. It is simple and easy to use. It also has the enormous advantage of being free and is a great way to start out on your email marketing journey.

The Good & the Bad

The Good:

  • It is free and will remain free so long as your list does not go above 2000. After that the price is $9.99 per month.
  • It has everything you need to start your email marketing business.
  • Easy to use especially if you are new to internet marketing and don’t want anything too complicated.

The Bad:

  • As your list grows, the price goes up.
  • The Free account does not give access to the fantastic support available.

Get Response

Name: Get Response

Website: GetResponse.com
Price: $15 per month with a free 30-day trial

Overall Rank: 8 out of 10

Get Response is a hugely popular package that provides a solid autoresponder function as well as a whole range of other email marketing tools.

The Good & the Bad

The Good:

  • Easy and simple to use, drag and drop message functionality.
  • Unlimited messages per day.
  • Additional features such as webinars and landing pages.

The Bad:

  • Some of the advanced automation can feel complicated.
  • Unlimited list size but the cost starts to rise after 2500 contacts.

AWeber

Name: AWeber

Website:  AWeber.com
Price: $19 per month with a free 30-day trial

Overall Rank: 7 out of 10

AWeber was one of the first autoresponders and is still very popular today. It is a straightforward solution for a relatively small email list however the price goes up when you go over 500 contacts.

The Good & the Bad

The Good:

  • Because it has been around a long time integration with third party providers is solid and easy.
  • It has a good range of easy to use templates for email marketing.
  • AWeber has really good support with live chat on their website, phone and email support and live webinars to help you make the most of the software.

The Bad:

  • AWeber is quite pricey for large lists.
  • Can feel a bit old-fashioned at times.

Which one to Choose

If you are a real beginner with no budget at all the choice has to be Mail Chimp. However, if you see yourself making a real success of email marketing and developing it to a high level of automation you may want to go with Get Response. Get Response is a mid range price with a number of additional features that you will find really useful in the future.

It is important to choose the right platform for you as it is not easy to change platforms. I would make use of the 30-day free trials that AWeber and Get Response provide and try them out. Navigate round their websites and especially the dashboard and if you don’t like it or it feels difficult or clunky then the chances are you will continue to have problems as you start to use it. You can also do the same with Mail Chimp.

I would not discount AWeber as I have used it on a number of occasions and its easy integration with third party software can be really important at times.
